Hits the spot every time. During Ramadan, we usually have our date first and then we start with a bowl of warm soup. Shorabat Adas (Lentil soup) is famously enjoyed throughout the whole month of Ramadan.
Oil- veg or olive
One large onion diced
3 tsp cumin
2 cups lentils
2 ½ cup chopped Parsle
Medium Pot- Fill 1/3 water
Place chopped onions (1 big onion) in it and 1/4th salt, turn to high until it boils
When it boils turn flame to medium and add two cups lentils. 6-7 minutes later, switch to low
Watch carefully and continue to stir every two-3 minutes.
Stir until it thickens (it should be very hard to stir)
Wait until lentils open up and add 3 teaspoons cumin and a handful of parsley.
continue to stir frequently.
Lentil burns very easily
Lentils require some attention so that they do not burn. You could always try instant pot or slow cooker version though! Check these methods here.
